Chisholm Architect’s initiative toward sustainable architecture has been birthed out of practical design solutions over the last 30 years. Environmental responsibility achieved through efficient building systems and strategies which benefit the well being of those who inhabit the space has been a foundational part of the firm’s design practice. By identifying potential “green” design solutions early in the process successful site and building integration can be achieved.
Over the last few years, Chisholm Architects LEED Division has established the company’s Sustainability Initiative Program. The 2009 goals for the firm and its clients are aimed to foster sustainable strategies as standard practices. In-house practices include: to increase the number of LEED Accredited Professionals within the firm, to promote reduced water and electrical consumption at the firm and in projects, enhance the current recycling program, encourage carpooling for employees, and launching bi-monthly LEED education courses.
Chisholm Architects is incorporating products into their projects that assist in attaining LEED certification, as well as meeting Energy Star, GreenGuard, the Green Label Plus programs and other recognized certifications and programs.
